Language Focus: Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Listening, Speaking building
Usage Level: Level 4 - 6
Notes:
This game will teach the children how to concentrate on their listening and focus on recognizing the glossary for giving directions.
Method:
This game is called: Aim & Fire. It is best played outside since it involves shooting a water pistol. The object of the game is for the students to practice giving directions using prepositions.
The whole class forms a circle. Divide the class into two even teams, and have each team form into each semi-circle half of the circle. Each team picks a member to go out into the middle. The two opponents in the middle must stand nearest to their own team's semicircle. Each opponent is blindfolded. The water pistol is placed in the middle of the circle. The teacher turns each student around 5 times as the students all count. Then the game begins, as each team shouts directions to its team representative on where to move to get the water pistol. The first player to actually reach the water pistol gets to take off his or her blindfold and shoot the opponent with water.
